
The United States is working with regional partners to end the devastating conflict in Sudan, the White House has said.
Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said Washington remains committed to a negotiated peace process with Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates to address Sudan’s worsening humanitarian and political crises.
Leavitt acknowledged the difficulty of achieving peace, calling the situation “very complicated on the ground.”
The war between General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army and the Rapid Support Forces began in April 2023, killing thousands and displacing millions.
The RSF controls the entire Darfur region, while the army holds most other states, including the capital, Khartoum.
