The West Kordofan Civil Administration on Wednesday rejected reports that the Rapid Support Forces detained civilian families on the outskirts of Babanusa.
In a statement, administration chief Youssef Al-Ayyan called the Sudan Doctors Network’s allegation “baseless,” adding that Babanusa has been emptied of civilians after earlier relocations to towns such as Al-Fula, Al-Mujlad, Gubeish, and Lagawa.
He urged media outlets to verify claims to avoid misleading the public.
The denial came a day after the Sudan Doctors Network said an RSF unit had seized seven families—including women and children—around Babanusa over alleged ties to the SAF, calling it a clear violation of international humanitarian law. That account was carried by regional outlets and remains unverified amid ongoing clashes.
Babanusa, long besieged by the RSF due to the SAF’s 22nd Division headquarters there, has seen repeated flare-ups this week as the RSF moves reinforcements toward the city. With active hostilities and restricted access, independent humanitarian monitoring is limited; rights groups continue to warn of heightened risks to civilians across Kordofan.
