A disappointing start to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers continued for star-studded Ghana as they were held to a 1-1 draw by lowly Niger on Monday.
Despite fielding a formidable line-up featuring several Premier League stars, Ghana failed to secure their first win in two qualifiers.
The Black Stars had previously suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Angola last week.
Meanwhile, top-ranked African team Morocco needed a late goal from Brahim Diaz to defeat stubborn minnows Lesotho 1-0.
The match was played in Agadir, as Lesotho lacks an international-standard stadium.
Senegal also secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Burundi, thanks to a penalty converted by Ismaila Sarr.
The match was played in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe, due to Burundi’s lack of suitable facilities.
In other matches, Uganda defeated Congo Brazzaville 2-0 to top Group K, while Equatorial Guinea and Togo played to a 1-1 draw.
