Togo suspends Russia’s Yango ride-hailing app over safety issues

Togo’s Ministry of Transport has suspended the Russian ride-hailing service Yango, owned by Yandex, citing security concerns. This decision comes only a few months after the app launched in the West African country.

According to the ministry’s statement on Thursday, Yango began its operations in June without the required authorization and in violation of local regulations.

Authorities emphasized that the suspension was necessary to ensure passenger safety and maintain legal compliance. “YANGO’s operations are suspended across the entire country,” the statement read.

Yango has yet to provide a comment on the suspension.
