Itula calls Namibia vote results illegitimate

Opposition presidential candidate Panduleni Itula announced Saturday that his party would not recognize the results of Namibia’s extended election, citing chaos and allegations of foul play.

Itula, leader of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC), vowed that regardless of the outcome, “the IPC shall not recognize the election result.”

The election has faced criticism over irregularities and delays, with concerns that the process may trigger a political crisis.

Itula’s statement challenges 34 years of rule by the South West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO), which has not yet addressed the accusations.

The dispute threatens to spark tensions as Namibia faces mounting economic and political challenges.
