DR Congo targets Apple in lawsuit over minerals from conflict

The Democratic Republic of Congo has filed lawsuits against Apple subsidiaries in France and Belgium, accusing the tech giant of potential complicity in the use of “blood minerals” mined in conflict zones.

The lawsuits allege Apple may have indirectly supported armed groups operating in eastern Congo, where they control the extraction of valuable minerals.

These minerals, often used in electronics, fuel the ongoing conflict.

The Congolese government seeks to hold Apple accountable for its potential role in this complex and ethically challenging issue.
