RSF seizes El Fasher’s main market, tightens grip on SAF stronghold

Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighters seized full control of El Fasher’s central “Hajar Gadu” market on Sunday after hours of fierce street battles that inflicted heavy casualties and damage on General al-Burhan’s army and their allied joint forces, field sources told Idraak News.

The market, one of the city’s most strategic positions, sits just three buildings—El Fasher Cinema, the North Darfur state-government secretariat and the Sultan Mosque—away from the 6th Infantry Division headquarters, the SAF’s last major garrison in Darfur.

RSF commanders said the capture tightens their encirclement of the base, where SAF junta troops are now largely confined.

Video released by RSF media teams from inside the newly captured marketplace shows scorched shopfronts, ransacked banks and burned-out homes. The RSF blamed the destruction on pro-SAF militias that had been using the market as a defensive line.

The fall of Hajar Gadu comes as RSF units step up assaults around the 6th Division in a bid to break the SAF’s final stronghold in the region.
