RSF makes major battlefield gains in El Fasher, North Darfur

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have achieved major battlefield gains in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, in what commanders describe as a decisive step toward ending the presence of Islamist-aligned militias and foreign mercenaries in the state.

Video footage released by RSF fighters in recent hours shows units pushing deeper into the city’s strategic sectors, with heavy fortifications and defensive positions of General al-Burhan’s army and its allied factions coming under sustained pressure.

According to RSF field commanders, the advance has brought their forces to the doorstep of the SAF’s 6th Infantry Division headquarters—considered the last major military stronghold for Islamist forces in North Darfur.

An RSF field commander told Al-Sayha the forces had moved closer to capturing the SAF’s 6th Infantry Division headquarters and declaring North Darfur free of Islamist militia fighters and allied armed group mercenaries.

He said TASIS-aligned units continue to evacuate civilians from El Fasher through humanitarian corridors, providing food, medicine, and transport to safe areas.
