TASIS deputy al-Hilu meets South Darfur’s native leaders, calls for unity

Abdulaziz al-Hilu, deputy head of the TASIS Presidential Council, met Wednesday with native administration leaders in South Darfur’s capital, Nyala, according to multiple local sources.

The meeting, held at an educational facility in central Nyala, discussed seven core points. Participants said al-Hilu urged tribal leaders to end internal disputes, accept other communities, and reinforce local cohesion.

One source said al-Hilu warned that South Darfur’s communities “are in the crosshairs of central authority,” calling for vigilance and discipline: actions by individuals toward others could be “exploited by the enemy,” a reference to General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) and its allies.

Al-Hilu—who also leads the SPLM-N—appeared earlier this week alongside Presidential Council chief and RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo during a tour of Nyala and addressed Sunday’s mass rally.

Several South Darfur tribes declared support for the RSF early in the war; the state’s Native Administration executive office later followed suit, mobilizing thousands of fighters for the Sudanese group, according to local accounts.
