The Sudanese Red Crescent Society has dispatched a specialized emergency team to Tarsin village in Central Jebel Marra after a devastating landslide.
The disaster, which struck suddenly, caused heavy human losses among residents and left the community struggling under severe humanitarian and environmental strain.
Responding urgently, the South Darfur branch sent paramedics, emergency volunteers, and technical experts, including managers from key health and environmental departments.
The deployed team includes the Director of Food Security, the Director of Corpse Management, and representatives of First Aid and Risk Management.
Specialists from the Water, Sanitation, and Environmental Protection Department also joined, aiming to deliver interventions matching the disaster’s immediate and long-term consequences.
An official statement confirmed the team would arrive within hours, following appeals from national and international organizations coordinating relief efforts with Sudanese authorities.
The association emphasised its coordination with humanitarian partners to ensure integrated operations, pooling expertise and resources to confront the disaster’s widespread aftermath effectively.
Authorities and relief agencies facilitated logistical procedures, navigating Tarsin’s difficult terrain to guarantee the safe arrival of personnel and essential life-saving supplies.
For Tarsin’s residents, battered by grief and loss, the approaching convoy carries more than aid—it carries fragile threads of renewed hope.
In the wake of tragedy, the Red Crescent vowed to stand firm beside the people of Darfur, pledging swift and sustained humanitarian action.
