The UN Secretary-General’s personal envoy to Sudan, Ramdane Lamamra, said he has returned to the region, starting in Nairobi, to discuss peace efforts with all Sudanese parties, including the Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS).
In a post on X, Lamamra said his push is guided by the UN Security Council’s latest statement on Sudan and called on all actors to enter a constructive dialogue that leads to a comprehensive, sustainable political settlement.
Several Sudanese civilian coalitions accuse Lamamra of sidelining civilian forces and tilting toward military interlocutors. A number of these groups have sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General urging a change in the envoy’s approach and engagement strategy.
