The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) declared full control of the strategic Kazgil area in North Kordofan State after fierce battles. In its statement, the group announced the deployment of special reinforcements to secure the territory and fortify its positions.
The RSF said the move marked a decisive advance in its campaign, setting the stage for a broader push toward El Obeid city. El Obeid, a provincial capital, is seen as a gateway to wider territorial influence and a symbolic prize in the grinding conflict.
The RSF stressed its forces were advancing from multiple axes, signaling a sustained bid to break the SAF’s strongholds in the region. General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s (SAF) sources offered no immediate confirmation, reflecting the war’s fog, where territorial claims often clash with rival reports.
The battle for Kazgil underlines escalating violence between the RSF and Burhan’s SAF, both seeking leverage in a fractured warzone.
