Babiker Faisal says Jeddah ceasefire negotiations are ‘close’

Babiker Faisal, head of the Federal Gathering’s executive bureau, said all indications suggest SAF and the Rapid Support Forces are close to resuming negotiations in Jeddah aimed at agreeing a humanitarian ceasefire.

In a post on X, Faisal stressed that any successful political process must be entirely led by civilian forces, which should set the agenda, priorities and the participating parties.

“There is no room for reviving a civilian-military partnership,” he wrote, adding that the top priority in the next phase is building a single, professional national army that monopolizes arms, safeguards civilian rule and protects the country in line with constitutional mandates.
