The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have released a video on Monday showing control of Umm Dam Haj Ahmed, a strategic town in North Kordofan state. In the footage, RSF are seen patrolling the area over captured military positions and vehicles.
The group declared that the town had been “fully liberated” from General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army control, portraying the operation as another victory in their campaign across Sudan. Umm Dam Haj Ahmed lies on a vital route connecting North Kordofan with neighbouring Darfur, making it a valuable logistical and symbolic prize.
The RSF’s announcement underscores its expanding influence beyond traditional strongholds. The battle for control across Sudan continues to devastate civilian life, with both sides accused of widespread atrocities and disregard for humanitarian law.
