El Fasher committees: No victory under Burhan and Minawi

The Coordination of Resistance Committees in El Fasher has emphatically rejected the continued presence of Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Minni Arko Minawi in positions of power, describing them as obstacles to any real victory in Sudan’s national struggle.

In a strongly worded statement, the committee accused the two leaders of putting personal interests ahead of the people, and said it feared no confrontation with militias or their backers. It argued that the country now faces only two viable choices, responsible field resistance or sincere negotiations, and warned that the crisis has moved beyond documenting grievances to deciding the fate of a nation threatened with fragmentation and collapse.

The statement condemned the use of reports of violations as a bargaining chip without any clear field position, insisting that the blood of civilians must not be traded in political calculations. “Whoever traffics in suffering is the biggest loser in the equation of war and peace,” the committee said.

The resistance groups called for leadership that takes a decisive stance against armed militias and what they described as the Emirati role in the conflict. They highlighted Darfur’s long record of killing, displacement and abuses since 2001, and criticised those who seek power while exploiting fighters’ sacrifices for narrow ends.

Reiterating its commitment to resistance, the Coordination Committee said there is no neutrality between right and wrong, and that attacks on civilians must be met not with silence or acquiescence, but with determined confrontation.
