Burhan’s army recruits Sudanese civilians for RSF frontline fighting

General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan’s army (SAF) will continue recruiting Sudanese and put them on frontlines to fight the Rapid Support Forces.

Bashir Makki al-Bahi, head of the High Committee for Mobilization and Popular Resistance, confirmed the reopening of training camps and deployment of civilians in fighting arena.

The announcement follows the RSF’s capture of El Fasher, North Darfur’s capital, on October 26, which prompted junta Prime Minister Kamil Idris to declare nationwide mobilization.

Since April 2023, the SAF and RSF conflict has killed thousands and displaced millions, defying repeated regional and international efforts to halt the fighting.
