A political adviser to Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander Mohamed Hamdan “Hemedti” Dagalo has condemned European Union sanctions against the force’s deputy commander, Abdelrahim Dagalo, describing them as unjust and legally flawed.
In a post on his Facebook page, the adviser, known as al-Basha, said the EU decision “did not follow proper legal procedures, and no committees were sent to investigate the alleged accusations.” He added that “all the charges on which the decision was based are false and do not reflect the truth or the reality on the ground.”
His comments came after the European Union announced it had added Abdelrahim Dagalo to its sanctions list as part of efforts to hold RSF leaders accountable for abuses linked to the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
