RSF secures Borno after clashes against Muslim Brotherhood

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) secured a significant victory on Friday, liberating the Borno area in South Kordofan’s Eastern Rural District, the fighting forces said in a statement.

Heavy clashes erupted as the Muslim Brotherhood mobilized forces with armored vehicles and artillery, targeting nearby positions.

RSF troops, prepared and resolute, repelled the assault, inflicting heavy losses and destroying key enemy equipment.

By early Friday morning, RSF had advanced into Borno’s centre, establishing full control and setting up military outposts to secure strategic locations.

RSF commanders hailed the operation as a testament to the forces’ resilience, courage, and record of tactical successes across the region.

Officials stressed the importance of protecting civilians and restoring essential services, ensuring stability and support for communities affected by the conflict.

Humanitarian access is set to resume in the liberated area.

The RSF also paid tribute to fallen comrades, invoking mercy and honouring those who sacrificed their lives in service.

Military spokespeople described the liberation as a turning point in the campaign to secure South Kordofan from armed opposition.

The operation highlights Borno’s strategic significance and reflects ongoing efforts to stabilise the region while prioritising humanitarian needs.
