RSF adviser claims gains in Darfur

An adviser to the commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has claimed that forces operating under the name “Tasees” have taken control of the town of Kornoi in North Darfur state.

In a post published on social media, Al-Basha Tebeig, an adviser to RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, said the group’s advance was continuing in Darfur. “Today we say it clearly, no to mercenarism, no to racism, no to tribalism, yes to the unity of the people,” he wrote.

The claim comes amid ongoing military and security tensions across the Darfur region, where repeated clashes have been reported between SAF and RSF forces.

The escalation has raised growing concern over the impact of the fighting on civilians and the already dire humanitarian situation in Darfur, as continued hostilities threaten to further destabilise the region.
