RSF commander Idris Hassan raises flag as Abu Qumra falls

Major General Idris Hassan, a senior RSF commander, raised the group’s flag over the area amid claims of liberation from rival forces. In a dramatic display of authority, Hassan addressed local citizens, conveying messages of unity and promises of protection under RSF control. His speech carried echoes of hope for stability in a region scarred by years of relentless conflict and displacement.

Yet, the general issued stern warnings to mercenaries affiliated with General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army (SAF). He accused them of exploiting the chaos, vowing decisive action against any lingering threats to newly secured territories.

The advance followed the withdrawal of joint forces supporting the government, highlighting shifting battle lines across Darfur. Abu Qumra’s fall underscores the RSF’s expanding dominance in western Sudan following earlier conquests like El Fasher.
