Sudanese Red Crescent hosts open day to support female inmates

The Sudanese Red Crescent Society’s Northern State Branch held an open day for female inmates at Dongola Prison.

The event included psychological and legal support, health services, and distribution of food and essential items, organisers said.

Professor Aisha Abdullah, Red Crescent Director, and Colonel Al-Sadiq Bashir Muhammad, Director of Prisons Forces, attended along with prison officials and specialists.

Ms. Lubna Fath Al-Bab, Protection Pathways Project coordinator, said the initiative targets vulnerable women and children, working closely with regulatory bodies.

Funded by the Danish Red Cross and Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the project also provides referrals and support to migrants in the host community.

A parallel training workshop was held for regular forces on first response and support for juvenile delinquents and human trafficking victims.
