Egypt has reiterated the importance of pursuing a political solution to the conflict in Sudan, stressing the need for continued international coordination to achieve a comprehensive humanitarian truce that could pave the way for a permanent ceasefire.
The Egyptian foreign minister said efforts should continue within the framework of the international quartet, which includes Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE and the US, with the aim of reaching an inclusive humanitarian ceasefire.
He emphasised that the only viable solution lies in launching a Sudanese led political process. Egypt also renewed its full solidarity with Sudan, calling on the international community and donor countries to honour their humanitarian pledges in order to address the worsening conditions on the ground.
The minister stressed that supporting the Sudanese people at this critical stage is essential to strengthening prospects for stability and preventing further deterioration.
