UN warns of Sudan’s worsening humanitarian crisis

The UN human rights chief highlighted serious violations in Sudan’s fighting and expressed concern as conflict continues in several parts of Sudan.

Volker Turk concluded a five-day visit to Sudan on Sunday, observing the humanitarian impact of the conflict on displaced civilians across affected areas.

At a Northern State site sheltering around 20,000 people, Turk documented shortages of food, limited access to healthcare, and disruptions to basic services.

Officials emphasized the need to prevent similar incidents in the broader region as the situation develops.

Since late October, over 25,000 people have been displaced across South Kordofan amid ongoing military activity, shelling, and aerial operations.
