Rapid Support Forces shift their military focus to central Kordofan

The Kordofan region has solidified as the new epicentre of Sudan’s brutal civil war.

Following their capture of El Fasher in late 2025, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have shifted their primary focus to the central Kordofan states, vowing to dismantle the “Muslim Brotherhood militias” and “mercenaries” within General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army.

“Kordofan is the graveyard of terrorists and Muslim Brotherhood militias, and we will soon write the end of the armed movements’ mercenaries,” RSF said in a statement on its Telegram account.

Despite the RSF’s claims of nearing an end to the resistance, Burhan’s army and allied militias have attacked RSF-held areas.

However, the RSF has thwarted the attacks, according to the group’s statement.

With famine already confirmed in Kadugli, the continued war between RSF and Burhan’s army is pushing civilian casualties to record highs.
