Media reports say Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, widely known as Hemedti, is currently inside Sudan overseeing battlefield developments in areas between Kordofan and Darfur.
According to a legal adviser within the RSF, Dagalo has been directly monitoring military operations on the ground. The adviser said he met Dagalo approximately one week ago near areas witnessing active combat, adding that the commander’s presence is part of his direct supervision of troop movements at a time when Sudan’s crisis, ongoing since April 2023, continues amid deepening political and security complications.
Dagalo recently addressed participants during the third session of the “Tasis” (Founding) Authority meetings, held from January 31 to February 3, 2026. In his remarks, he said the crisis persists due to prolonged political disputes and the involvement of some actors linked to the Islamist movement, which he argued has hindered political initiatives and extended the conflict.
He reaffirmed his commitment to Sudan’s unity, describing it as a “red line,” and stressed that the alliance seeks to address internal divisions and expand public participation in the country’s political transition process.
