The General Secretariat of the National Umma Party has condemned the killing of more than 50 civilians in aerial bombardments carried out by General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army in West Kordofan State.
According to the party, the strikes targeted the cities of Al-Mujlad and Al-Fula, where explosions hit residential areas and left dozens of people dead.
Seven more civilians were reportedly killed in a separate attack on villages and settlements west of Al-Rahad, the statement added.
The party described the incidents as a serious escalation that has increased the risks facing civilians across Sudan’s conflict-affected regions.
The statement also urged Burhan’s army to respect its obligations under international humanitarian law and ensure that non-combatants are not targeted.
The party demanded an immediate halt to what it described as unjustified attacks on civilians and essential infrastructure.
Markets, service facilities, and gathering points for residents and displaced families have repeatedly been struck, according to the statement.
These areas are often crowded with people seeking food, safety, or assistance, making the impact of such attacks particularly devastating.
The condemnation reflects growing concern over civilian safety as Sudan’s conflict spreads to towns and rural communities.
The party warned that attacks on populated areas are worsening humanitarian conditions and deepening the suffering of civilians.
It reiterated its call for all parties to prioritise civilian protection and prevent further bloodshed across the country.
