RSF commemorates war victims during anniversary iftar in Darfur

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in West Darfur marked their founding anniversary by hosting a communal iftar for local residents on Thursday.

The event also commemorated those killed on April 15 by General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army, the date marking the start of Sudan’s civil war.

Participants gathered to remember individuals the RSF describes as martyrs of the conflict.

The gathering took place in a region still scarred by years of ethnically driven violence and urban fighting.

West Darfur continues to face a severe humanitarian crisis marked by mass displacement and damaged civilian infrastructure.

The anniversary highlights the thousands who have died since the conflict began in early 2023.
