Sudan releases Islamist figure who declared support for Iran

Sudanese authorities have released an Islamist leader who had been detained for more than three days without an official explanation for his arrest, according to posts shared on social media.

The release of Islamist figure Al-Naji Mustafa was confirmed on Sunday through a message published on his personal account, in which he said he had resumed his public activities following the period of detention.

Mustafa did not provide further details about the circumstances surrounding his arrest or the conditions of his detention.

The Islamist figure had previously drawn attention after announcing, alongside members of Islamist militias linked to the movement, that he supported Iran and was ready to fight alongside it.
