TASIS claims capture of Majga area in Blue Nile after fresh fighting

The Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) said its forces had taken control of the Majga area in Sudan’s Blue Nile state following clashes with forces aligned with General al-Burhan’s army.

In a statement released on Thursday, the alliance — which includes the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu — said the advance came a day after it announced the capture of the strategic town of Kurmuk.

According to the statement, TASIS forces secured Majga after what it described as “decisive battles” in the Funge region of Blue Nile, claiming that opposing forces suffered losses and withdrew from the area.

The alliance said it had seized military vehicles, weapons and ammunition during the fighting, though these claims could not be independently verified.

TASIS said its forces would continue advancing toward what it described as remaining positions of forces linked to the Islamic Movement, referring to factions aligned with General al-Burhan’s army.

The group also called on civilians to avoid areas of active fighting and urged cooperation with its forces to restore basic services, including water and healthcare.

There was no immediate comment from General al-Burhan’s army on the reported developments.

Blue Nile has seen intensified clashes in recent weeks as TASIS forces push deeper into the region following a series of territorial gains.
