Fighting in Blue Nile forces thousands to flee homes in Sudan

The humanitarian situation in Sudan’s Blue Nile state is worsening as thousands flee renewed fighting between the General Abdel Fattah al Burhan’s army and Rapid Support Forces.

Local responders report a surge in displacement from Kurmuk, with families forced to abandon their homes under urgent conditions.

Humanitarian estimates based on United Nations data show more than 73,000 displaced people arriving in Damazin and nearby areas, most of them women and children.

Many families fled with little warning and now face severe shortages of food, clean water, and shelter.

Overcrowded shelters and strained health services are increasing risks for vulnerable groups, while local response capacities remain insufficient.

Aid workers warn that without urgent support from national authorities and international organisations, essential services could collapse as displacement continues.
