Sudan’s Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri, stirred controversy by publicly seeking a part-time job.
He said his Port Sudan government’s salary, reduced since taking office in July 2025, is insufficient for basic needs and asked for work opportunities in Sudan or Gulf countries.
Al-Mansouri listed roles from research assistant to senior management consultant, signalling openness to varied professional tasks.
The unprecedented announcement sparked debate over official pay, ethics, and the economic struggles of public servants, with social media reactions split between sympathy and criticism.
Observers say the move highlights Sudan’s broader financial crisis and raises questions about the General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan-led government’s transparency, compensation, and the human impact of economic hardship.
