A senior member of the Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS) was killed in a drone strike in Nyala on Tuesday, as a wave of aerial attacks across Darfur left multiple civilians dead and underscored a sharp escalation in the conflict.
Osama Hassan Hussein, a member of TASIS’s leadership council, was killed when a drone struck a house in Nyala’s Khartoum Balil area, according to local sources and a statement by the alliance. At least four other people were injured in the strike.
Residents reported multiple explosions across the city, with drones targeting several sites, including locations linked to figures affiliated with the alliance.
TASIS and its affiliated “Peace Government” condemned the strike as a “political assassination,” accusing elements within General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) and Islamist-linked groups of carrying it out. The accused parties have not commented on the allegations.
In its statement, the alliance described Hussein as a founding figure who played a key role in shaping its political vision, calling his killing part of a broader campaign targeting civilian political actors. It urged an independent international investigation.
Separately in West Darfur, at least four civilians were killed in drone strikes widely attributed by local sources to General al-Burhan’s SAF.
Two people were killed when a drone hit civilian vehicles in the Um Kalul area east of El Geneina, while another strike along the road between Sarf Umra and Al-Junaynah killed two more. The targeted vehicles were reportedly carrying charcoal and food supplies.
A separate drone strike targeted a military vehicle in the Kadida area of Krink locality, though no casualty figures were immediately available.
Videos circulating online showed burning civilian vehicles believed to have been struck in the attacks.
