TASIS urges all international bodies to condemn SAF hospital strikes

The Health Ministry of Sudan’s TASIS “Peace Government” has sent an urgent legal appeal to international bodies, calling for investigations into what it described as systematic attacks on medical facilities in Darfur and Kordofan.

In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry said it had formally addressed the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the UN Security Council, and the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court over a series of drone strikes targeting hospitals.

The ministry cited SAF attacks on Al-Nuhud Referral Hospital on April 9, Abu Zabad Hospital in West Kordofan on April 6, and Al-Daein Emergency Teaching Hospital on March 20, which it said killed and wounded dozens of civilians.

It said the strikes constituted “grave violations” of international humanitarian law and could amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The ministry called on the World Health Organization to launch an independent international investigation and document violations against Sudan’s health sector, while urging the UN Security Council to open an urgent probe and impose sanctions on those responsible.

It also appealed to the International Criminal Court to initiate an immediate investigation and pursue legal accountability for those involved.

The statement warned that continued targeting of hospitals risks the collapse of Sudan’s already fragile healthcare system, stressing the need for urgent international action to protect civilians and medical facilities.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding healthcare infrastructure and civilians, concluding with a call for justice for victims and accountability for perpetrators.
