Senior US adviser Massad Boulos has said that President Donald Trump supports efforts to end the war in Sudan, calling on warring parties to agree to a humanitarian truce to allow unrestricted aid access.
In a statement posted on X, Boulos said a humanitarian ceasefire is a necessary first step to enable relief operations and lay the groundwork for a broader peace plan in the country.
He noted that the third anniversary of the conflict coincided with an international conference in Berlin focused on Sudan’s humanitarian crisis, adding that participants pledged more than $1.7 billion to support aid efforts.
Boulos also revealed that he held talks in Berlin with UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, where both sides discussed bilateral coordination and joint efforts to push for a humanitarian truce, including through the United Nations.
He said both parties agreed on the urgent need for Sudan’s warring sides to commit to a humanitarian ceasefire to ensure aid reaches those in need and to create conditions for a lasting peace process.
