At least several civilians were killed and injured after a drone strike carried out by General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) targeted a mining site near a market in South Darfur on Tuesday, according to local sources.
Witnesses said the strike hit the Agbash market area in Al-Rudum locality, where artisanal mining activity is concentrated. The drone reportedly circled above the site before firing multiple missiles.
Residents said at least seven projectiles landed between the market and nearby fuel storage areas, triggering large fires that spread across the site.
Local miners and workers reported “heavy civilian losses,” though exact casualty figures remain unclear as assessments are still ongoing.
No official statement has been issued by SAF or allied authorities regarding the attack.
The strike comes amid continued reports of SAF aerial attacks hitting civilian areas across Darfur, raising concerns over mounting casualties in remote communities with limited emergency response capacity.
