Turkish aid agency installs solar water systems in dry Sudan

Turkey’s aid agency TIKA has launched development projects in Sudan, focusing on clean water access, healthcare, agriculture, and fisheries support.

The initiatives include a solar-powered energy system in Red Sea state to improve water access in one of the world’s driest regions.

Projects also cover agricultural nurseries, freshwater fisheries support, and renovation of the orthopaedic department at Matamma State Hospital.

Officials said the solar system will provide sustainable, low-cost energy for water pumping without reliance on fuel supplies.

Red Sea state communities depend heavily on deep wells and reservoirs as rainfall remains extremely limited across the region.
