SPLM-N al-Hilu says civilians targeted by SAF in Blue Nile assault

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North, led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu, has accused forces it described as “terrorist militias of the Islamic Movement” of attacking civilians in the areas of Adi and Abu Dagla in Qeissan County, in the New Funj region of Blue Nile state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the movement said the assault took place earlier this week and involved more than 20 four-wheel-drive vehicles loaded with weapons.

According to field reports cited by the SPLM-N al-Hilu, the attack caused civilian deaths and injuries, while initial casualty figures were still being compiled.

The group said the attacking forces burned homes belonging to civilians and destroyed markets, shops, limited water sources, pharmacies, schools and health centres in the two areas.

The statement added that the assault displaced the entire population of Adi and Abu Dagla, with more than 100 children still missing after fleeing into forests and valleys to escape the violence.

The movement also accused the forces of abducting civilians, including women and children, and taking them to unknown locations.

The SPLM-N al-Hilu has repeatedly accused General al-Burhan’s SAF and allied Islamist factions of targeting civilians in areas outside their control, particularly in conflict-affected regions such as Blue Nile, South Kordofan and Darfur.
