European parliamentarians have issued urgent calls for international intervention during high-level talks held in Rome this week, as concern grows over Sudan’s escalating conflict.
The diplomatic initiative reflects mounting alarm across Europe over the war in Sudan, which lawmakers warn has moved beyond an internal crisis and now poses a wider threat to regional stability.
Members of the European Parliament met with Al-Sadiq Ismail, a senior humanitarian adviser representing the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and speed up the delivery of food and medical aid.
Talks focused on removing bureaucratic and logistical barriers that continue to hinder humanitarian operations across the country.
European representatives also urged the European Union to take a stronger position on reported human rights violations, calling for accountability and legal action over abuses against civilians.
The discussions highlight growing international pressure for a coordinated response, as analysts stress that an end to hostilities remains essential for any lasting stability in the region.
