Sudan’s SPLM-N to boycott talks over peace process failures

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North Revolutionary Democratic Current has announced that it will boycott the upcoming national political dialogue, arguing that the current peace process has failed to deliver meaningful solutions.

The movement said it would only participate if anti-war civilian forces take a leading role in shaping the talks and called for a clear agreement with the five-party mechanism on the dialogue’s agenda.

It criticised the current framework for excluding key anti-war voices and warned against equating pro-democracy groups with authoritarian actors.

The group also said sustainable peace must begin with addressing the humanitarian crisis and securing a ceasefire.

The announcement comes as Sudan’s war enters its fourth year, with major disagreements persisting over the country’s future governance.
