Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have launched an extensive security operation across Nyala, the capital of South Darfur, to enforce recent directives issued by state authorities.
The campaign follows decisions adopted by the Security and Defense Council and is aimed at improving security and public order in the city. RSF units have been deployed in key areas to address criminal activity and what authorities describe as harmful social practices.
Officials said the operation will focus on tackling armed crime, the spread of illegal weapons, and cross-border smuggling.
The RSF said the measures are necessary to help restore stability in a region that has experienced prolonged unrest.
The security push comes amid growing concerns over safety and rising pressure on transitional authorities to protect civilians. Commanders said patrols will remain in place for as long as necessary to improve security conditions.
Residents have been encouraged to cooperate with security forces and report suspicious activity. Authorities said the campaign is part of broader efforts to strengthen state control in areas affected by recurring tribal violence.
