Former Kassala Governor Saleh Ammar accused the ruling regime led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan of deliberately targeting communities in Eastern Sudan and fueling tribal divisions.
Ammar said that actors in Port Sudan are orchestrating tribal disputes to weaken social cohesion and gain control over resource-rich areas.
The accusations come after remarks by Hadendowa chief Sayed Mohamed Al-Amin Turk in Kassala calling for a review of Beja identity issues and clearer tribal boundaries.
Local groups condemned the comments as inflammatory, while the Bani Amer tribal leadership demanded the dismissal of the Interior Minister over his silence during the speech.
Sudanese Congress Party member Abla Karar accused state institutions and former regime elements within the security apparatus of exploiting local administrations to spread hate speech.
Analysts warn that rising tribal tensions and widespread weapons availability could further destabilize Eastern Sudan and deepen the country’s ongoing conflict.
