The Sudanese youth activist group “Angry Without Borders” on Monday warned that growing public resentment towards the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) could further threaten the country’s fragile social cohesion.
The group said inciting public anger against the SAF could have serious consequences for the home front.
It warned that any sudden eruption of public anger could affect all sides involved in Sudan’s ongoing conflict.
Thousands of young people have joined the front lines to defend the state, while their families endure severe economic hardship.
However, the group said SAF abuses against civilians are eroding public trust and weakening morale built over recent months.
It stressed that wearing a military uniform grants no legal privilege and requires personnel to uphold the dignity of civilians.
The group also warned authorities against turning busy markets and other public spaces into areas of tension through unnecessary displays of force.
It said maintaining security inside cities remains the legal responsibility of civilian police forces.
The group warned that military encroachment into police jurisdiction creates institutional confusion and raises the risk of confrontations between civilians and armed personnel.
