UNHCR suspends online booking for Sudanese in Egypt

The United Nations refugee agency in Egypt has temporarily suspended its online appointment booking system for Sudanese refugees due to technical maintenance and system upgrades.

The UN refugee agency (UNHCR) said the electronic platform will remain offline until further notice while upgrade work continues.

The suspension comes as thousands of Sudanese refugees in Egypt continue seeking registration and international protection.

To reduce disruptions, UNHCR has introduced two alternative ways for refugees to book registration appointments during the outage.

Applicants can call the UNHCR information hotline during regular business hours from Sunday to Thursday.

Refugees can also visit the registration centre on Mecca Street in 6th of October City, where in-person appointments are available every Tuesday.

UNHCR said it will announce the restoration of online services through its official communication channels once the maintenance work is complete.
