Babiker Faisal, head of the Federal Gathering’s executive office, has strongly criticised the international five-party mechanism overseeing Sudan’s political process.
In a Facebook post, Faisal accused the mediating body of abandoning earlier agreements to establish an inclusive and neutral preparatory committee.
He said recent consultative meetings in Addis Ababa favoured groups aligned with General Abdel Fattah al Burhan-controlled Sudan Armed Forces, undermining the mediator’s neutrality.
Faisal argued the move supports the military’s strategy to gain time, recapture territory and strengthen its grip on power.
The boycott by major civilian alliances underscores widening political divisions as the mediation effort seeks to advance a lasting peace in Sudan.
