Sudanese junta Prime Minister Kamil Idris has dismissed Religious Affairs and Endowments Minister Bashir Haroun Abdel Karim Abdullah, ending months of bitter bureaucratic infighting.
Idris also terminated the assignment of Omar Mustafa Ali, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Hajj and Umrah.
The dispute escalated in June when the minister tried to suspend the secretary-general over alleged administrative and financial violations.
The power struggle caused severe administrative paralysis and deepened tensions within the ministry, disrupting key government operations.
Idris ordered the Cabinet, Ministry of Finance and other relevant authorities to immediately implement the termination decisions.
The decrees did not give specific reasons for the dismissals, but the move is widely seen as an attempt to restore order and end the institutional deadlock.
The leadership changes could also pave the way for a broader restructuring of Sudan’s religious affairs, Hajj and Umrah sectors.
