A swarm of unidentified drones has targeted the Kenana military airbase in Sudan’s White Nile state, with witnesses reporting powerful explosions inside the facility.
Witnesses told Al-Sayha newspaper that several drones struck the military airport, adding that loud blasts were heard from within the base shortly after the attack began.
There was no immediate confirmation of casualties or the extent of the damage, and no group has claimed responsibility for the operation.
Separate sources said drone attacks were also reported in Atbara, targeting army facilities, weapons and ammunition depots, as well as military training sites.
The sources claimed that some of the targeted training facilities were supervised by Turkish technicians, though that assertion could not immediately be independently verified.
The reported strikes mark another expansion in the use of long-range drones in Sudan’s war, with military installations and logistics hubs increasingly coming under aerial attack far from the main front lines.
