Authorities in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region have accused the federal government of launching a drone strike near the state capital, Mekelle.
The reported attack struck a farmer training center in Dandera village, located roughly 15 kilometers outside the city.
Officials from the governing Tigray People’s Liberation Front stated that the strike caused no injuries, though details remain sparse.
A local priest claimed one fighter was killed and two others wounded when the projectile landed on nearby farmland.
Rising military presence along the regional border has severely heightened tensions between local forces and the federal government.
Both sides have traded bitter accusations of provoking renewed conflict, threatening a fragile fragile peace in the region.
The escalating dispute risks shattering the truce that halted a devastating two-year civil war claiming hundreds of thousands of lives.
Ethiopian military officials have so far declined to comment on the alleged strike or the gathering border forces.
