US presidential adviser Massad Boulos said he held what he described as productive discussions with Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed Al-Khuraiji on efforts to secure a humanitarian truce in Sudan.
Boulos said the talks focused on establishing a pause in fighting that would allow unhindered humanitarian access, while also creating space for civilian dialogue and discussions over Sudan’s future governance.
He said Washington and Riyadh agreed that there was no military solution to the conflict, adding that the United States highly valued its partnership with Saudi Arabia as part of President Donald Trump’s broader efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
In a separate discussion, Boulos said the United States and Egypt had renewed their shared commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and addressing conflicts through sustained dialogue and coordination.
He said a recent call with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty underscored the urgent need for an immediate humanitarian truce in Sudan to facilitate aid deliveries and help pave the way toward civilian rule.
Boulos described the US-Egypt partnership as an important pillar of efforts to advance regional peace and stability.
The discussions come as diplomatic efforts intensify to secure a humanitarian pause in Sudan’s war and improve access for civilians affected by the conflict.
