Rapid Support Forces announced on Wednesday that the Sudanese town of Qaysan is undergoing recovery following recent unrest.
The group said clean-up campaigns have been launched across the town ahead of reopening its central market.
Officials called on residents who had fled fighting to return to their homes in Qaysan.
The statement did not specify a timeline for the market’s formal reopening to traders and shoppers.
Qaysan has featured prominently in Sudan’s conflict, with control of the town shifting amid fighting between rival forces.
The RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces have been in fierce fighting since April 2023.
That conflict has displaced millions and triggered what aid agencies call one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
