Sudan concluded its four-month presidency of the Council of Arab Ambassadors, closing a term marked by regional diplomatic coordination in Geneva.
Ambassador Hassan Hamed Hassan chaired the council’s final regular meeting at the League of Arab States’ permanent delegation headquarters before stepping down.
He briefed fellow envoys on Arab Group priorities ahead of the Human Rights Council’s next session, set to open September 7 in Geneva.
Hassan also addressed an anticipated British-led draft resolution on Sudan, urging Arab ambassadors to rally behind junta-controlled Khartoum’s position once again.
He called for a unified Arab statement backing Sudan, echoing the bloc’s approach during previous council sessions.
The meeting closed with a formal handover ceremony, passing the council’s presidency to Iraq’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Siwan Barzani.
